About me

I want to become a social carer because I love helping people grow, gain confidence, and live the life they want. I think everyone deserves the chance to be independent and make their own choices. There’s nothing more rewarding to me than seeing someone reach their goals, even the small ones. I really care about supporting people to build the skills and confidence they need to live their best lives in their own way. I have experience working with people with autism and other intellectual disabilities, so I understand the role and how important patience, support and consistency are to helping people achieve their goals. I am an empathetic, caring, compassionate and organised carer which I believe make me good at the role. Some of my skills include great problem solving abilities, empathy and compassion, adaptability, patience, excellent organisational skills and a commitment to always learning and improving. I always want to do my best and support people in the way they need. I am passionate about travelling and seeing the world! I have done a lot of solo travel which has greatly improved my independence and problem solving skills. My favourite continent so far is Africa which I love for its different cultural experiences, incredible scenery and amazing people. When I’m not travelling, my hobbies include cooking and baking, reading, going to the gym, walking my dog and fostering cats from the shelter. I have almost 4 years in disability experience, including working as a contracted social carer for people with disabilities. This includes taking people out on outings where I help them make friends, learn new skills and improve their independence. I love this job because I get to see people achieve their goals, make friendships and improve their lives. I have been described as a great social carer who is attentive and helps people find common ground. I have a talkative and friendly personality, but most importantly I listen to the individuals needs and cater my support to what they want.
