I wanted to become a social carer for the following reasons; * a strong desire to help others, *a passion for making a positive impact in people's lives * compassion for those in need *personal experiences that have shaped their empathy and understanding *a calling to serve their community. Social carers play a crucial role in providing support, care, and assistance to those who require it, and their dedication to helping others is often driven by their values and a sense of fulfilment in making a difference in the lives of others. I will be good at it as I cared for my elderly parents and my experience at work as a caregiver has broadened my knowledge and skills on the job. Some of my hobbies include singing, reading, gardening, cooking, baking and fishing. An interesting fact about me is that I am a teacher by profession for more than 20 years. I studied for Certificate III in Aged Care and Dementia while in NZ and it broadens my knowledge about the aging process and why elderly people act the way they do. I got to understand my duty of care and the skills I need to learn and master on the job. I am a very caring person, great sense of humour and full of empathy and understanding.
