I want to become a social support carer because I would like to enable people with the development of their skills and lives and to have a daily sense of achievement. It will be a fulfilling and rewarding career choice for me to see the difference that I can make in people's lives and abilities. I am flexible and can change or adjust to circumstances, e.g client needs to be seen a different day for that week or there is a change need. I would like to assist people to access their local community, to allow them to look forward to social events and social companionship in or out of home, if that is one of their goals. These are things and skils I am good at as, I have been a social worker / disAbility case manager in the past supporting them to access individualised services and aides, while working in consultation with their carers/families. Some of my passions include tennis, bike riding, walking, hiking, art history, creativity- making things, tutoring, gardening, the environment, music, drawing and painting. I also hold a Master of Teaching (Primary) so I could also help children with their literacy and numeracy if requested. I have lived and worked overseas in Qatar and China for 5 years, so I have experience in working with people from an ESL background.
