Since 2006 until 2020 I had been the sole carer for my elderly parents, one who had dementia, while also working full time. The invaluable assistance that was given to me by the different support organisations was key to being able to keep my parents at home. Now that they both have passed, I have more time and would like to be able to give back in some way, as I experienced first hand how important this help can be. I worked as a Cabin Manager for an Airline for many years and now work with the Department of Corrections in a hands on role, and this has given me experience in working with people from diverse backgrounds and needs. I love to build a rapport with people, find some common ground and have a laugh. I gain great satisfaction when I know that the people whom I'm with are enjoying themselves. I'm quite a pragmatic person and will always find a solution where possible. Enjoying what I'm doing is very important for me so having a laugh with people makes my day and theirs so much more enjoyable I find. I've travelled to many places in the world and enjoy theatre and art. I love home design and decorating. I rode horses for many years and enjoy just having a coffee and something to eat at a cafe. I like to keep fit and enjoy exercise. I lived in The Netherlands for 20 years and speak dutch fluently. I worked in theatre and television as a performer while in Holland, so between my performance background, being a Cabin Manager for an International Airline and currently working in the Department of Corrections, my life and work experience you could say is pretty diverse. Not a lot phases me and I like to think I can handle pretty much any situation that I come across.
