It feels paradoxically apt and reductive to describe my motivation as "paying it forward". Apt because I have a history of PTSD, OCD and chronic migraines, and would not be in a position today to support others if I hadn't received support myself. Reductive because "paying it forward" doesn't capture what a monumental shift it was for me to go from someone who found it extremely challenging to form deep connections with people to where I am now, with a partner and two kids, a prospect which once seemed impossibly remote. I found my passion for teaching almost a decade ago in university where I was able to share knowledge and facilitate fiery discussions on subjects like social justice and international relations. I love reading, thanks almost exclusively to my grandad, who used to take me to Whitlam Library in Cabramatta every weekend when I was a child. My grandad also used to take me on long walks (often to fun spots like the local swimming pool), so I owe him for my love of that too. I love drawing, a hobby I share by drawing greeting cards for my loved ones. And I love video games.
