I became a Social Carer because I enjoy being there for people who need extra support and someone they can rely on. Over the last 11 months in NDIS residential care and social support, I’ve worked with a client who has schizophrenia, anger issues and other challenges, so I’m used to staying calm and following behaviour support plans. I’m patient, consistent and genuinely care about helping people feel safe and respected. Some of my hobbies include cooking, going for walks and planning small outings like coffee trips. I enjoy one-on-one time and good conversations. Through my NDIS work I’ve built strong communication skills, good boundaries and confidence with daily support, community access and de-escalating tricky situations. People often describe me as calm, down-to-earth and easy to talk to. I’m reliable, I turn up when I say I will, and I’m happy to help with anything from practical tasks to just being there for a chat and some company.
