I have patience, understanding and I enjoy the company of others. Having a good laugh with someone always builds good relations and trust. For me, the type of care and support I can give is up to the client/participant and their needs. Whether it is playing cards, board games, going for a coffee or a walk, movie, to the beach, maybe they need help with sewing I could help. Having worked in an office environment most of my life, I know Microsoft Office, (Word , Excel etc). I can also help dealing with government agencies or other companies e.g real estate agents and/or strata agencies. Much of the time people just need a sense of support and companionship to boost their confidence to be involved in activities. I have many years experience with being an aged care carer. I understand their concerns as well as their interests. I started working in aged care from when I was 15 years old at Loreto Aged Care in Waverley which has now ceased and the building demolished for residential apartments. I have experience supporting people with a disability (which I refer to as DIS "Dependable in Style" ability) and mental health. Most importantly it’s the knowledge of how to gently treat, have patience, fun and appreciate our elderly citizens and our people with a disability.
