Tell us why you would make a great Hero.
Hi, I'm Rene.
I genuinely enjoy people and believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a full, connected and enjoyable life, whatever their age or circumstances.
I have many years of experience working in aged care, community services and adult education, and have had the privilege of working with and supporting people from many different backgrounds and walks of life.
I'm warm, friendly, patient and reliable, and I particularly enjoy getting to know people as individuals — hearing their stories, discovering what they enjoy and helping them stay connected to the people, places and activities that matter to them.
Through both my professional and life experience, I understand the importance of treating people with respect and dignity and recognising that everyone is an individual with their own interests, preferences and way of doing things.
Whether it's getting out for a coffee, attending an appointment, doing some shopping, enjoying an outing or simply spending time together and having a good chat, I'm very happy to come alongside someone and help make their day a little easier and more enjoyable.
Tell us how you will share one of your skills or hobbies to help someone in our community
One of my greatest strengths is connecting with people. I love a good conversation, but I'm equally happy to listen — and I genuinely enjoy hearing about people's lives, experiences and interests.
I particularly enjoy helping people get out and about and stay connected with their community. That might mean going shopping, attending appointments, enjoying a café visit, going for a walk, exploring somewhere interesting or simply getting out of the house for a change of scenery and some good company.
In my own time, I enjoy walking, reading, getting outdoors and, I have to admit, finding a good coffee! I love visiting cafés, browsing shops and markets, heading somewhere scenic or simply enjoying a relaxed day out. I'm equally happy with quieter activities and good conversation over a cuppa.
I think some of life's best moments are often the simple ones, and I'd love to help someone continue enjoying the things they love — or perhaps discover something new together.
For me, it's really about getting to know the individual and finding out what would make our time together enjoyable and meaningful.
