I get life is a little trickier for those of us that are neurodiverse, but there are amazing ways to have fun and enrich our lives and I know some of them. Humor being a major one! :)
As a mum to two older teenagers who have had their own mental health challenges growing up, and having worked through various therapies with them both in order to help them cope with day to day life, I have a deep understanding of how challenging it can be and know firsthand that very few people fit the definition of classically neurotypical. My daughter has anxiety and ADHD (inattentive) and my son has High Functioning ASD, plus I too have had my own mental health challenges dealing with OCD, but am thankfully now in a very good place. I probably have ADHD too, but I feel this is a gift and what makes me so creative and a very successful multitasker!
I have been looking for a job that is flexible around my freelance hair and makeup work, but that has heart and soul. I wanted to find a job that was making a positive difference and initially was looking to work in the animal welfare world again, but someone suggested I would be the right personality to be a carer and so here I am.
It would be wonderful to help others with different neurodiverse and physical challenges enjoy life and achieve their goals. I already look after a beautiful young teen a couple hours a week with Downs Syndrome and we have loads of fun doing puzzles, colouring in and singing.
I have also volunteered and worked in animal welfare for over 25 years, so am naturally a compassionate, caring person.
Being a freelance cruelty free hair and makeup artist for now over 30 years, I am highly creative and imaginative. I was also a pet portrait artist recently for a short time, drawing realistic dog portraits from photos in graphite. I love all forms of arts and crafts. I am a trained singer and dancer, although at 54 years of age, no longer do those to things, but love to keep fit and walk my dog everyday and I also go to the gym 3 times a week. I know how to crochet a little, sew, do paper quilling, jewellery making and paint. I also love to cake decorate, but I do this using all vegan friendly and natural ingredients.
I love all animals no matter whether furry, feathered or scaled and this is why I have chose a vegan lifestyle. I have a beautiful, sweet-natured rescued Chihuahua, 3 rescued female guinea pigs and an adopted canary that flies freely in our home. I also look after small dogs when there families are away on vacation. I love being out in nature, as it really is my happy place and often head down to the beach or lake tracks for walks. I am very bubbly, social and caring, but more than happy to sit watching a good movie or play a game like Pictionary with my family.
So if I sound like someone you would like to spend time with doing what interest you, then I would love to hear from you.
