Hi, my name is Lani, Tell us why you would make a great Hero. My life has been centred around helping people. I have a wide range of life experiences with the main thing in common being a love for people, and helping people. I had a 20 year career in managing a large workforce including being responsible for the recruiting, developing, nurturing and training of them. I have also worked part time in a local public school as relief teacher for young children. At home I am a mother looking after 5 kids between the ages of 8-19 years old. I have also been involved in volunteering work previously within an aged care facility. I get the utmost satisfaction when I feel I have helped someone achieve what they wish. Tell us how you will share one of your skills or hobbies to help someone in our community. There are many practical skills and hobbies I have including cooking, gardening, and organisation, however I consider one of my greatest skills to simply be communication. I love to spend time with people, getting to know them, sharing stories and pondering everything. I can help people in a variety of ways but I believe it is all the more special when you can develop special bonds and friendships in doing so. What is a quote that inspires you? "Don't let yesterday take up too much of today". While reflecting on the past is important, it is important to be focussed on the present and the future - seize the day and make a difference.
