About me

I wanted to become a Social Carer because I believe in the power of feeling connected, valued and understood. Family members have experienced the challenges of stroke and mental illness and I feel my empathy, compassion and genuine interest in other people make me suited to the role of Social Carer. I love cooking. I find it is my creative outlet and a way of sharing love. Having to deal with a lot of dietary issues with various family members I’ve become quite flexible and experimental! Some of my other hobbies include reading, bushwalking, sport and camping. I love playing board games and spending time with my family (I have 2 children, primary and high school aged). Earlier in my career I was a primary school teacher, before running a small catering business. I took time out of the workforce to raise my children and, more recently, have worked with children with special needs and in the support sector as a companion carer. Some of my hobbies include cooking, reading, bushwalking, sport and camping.
