I moved to NSW from WA in October 2023. My 6 month contract has now finished so am looking for work. I was a contractor and earning a good wage, which I need as I have to pay for a divorce. So as much as I enjoy working with people and get job satisfaction from seeing others happy and making progress towards their goals, I do need a certain income. I have worked in Community Mental Health with a variety of individuals facing challenges. I have many years experience of working in trauma informed care with youth. A Social Carer role is very similar to my 20+ years of experience. Previous clients have taught me many lessons and I keep these in mind whenever meeting a new individual and class these as valuable as my other transferable skills. In 2020 I completed a Diploma in Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Coaching. I found these largely language based and developed new skills on how to build rapport quickly and adapt my approach to suit their model of the world to make things more familiar and comfortable. Plus I'm a happy, positive and chatty person. With my work I am passionate about people being heard, reacting with empathy and providing support in a way that best suits them and their needs. Adapting my approach to suit their communication and personality is important, as is not judging for them working within their model of the world. Personally I like to road trip, explore new places, see new things and give most activities a go at least once. I am not very competitive and do things for the experience. I'm naturally curious and tend to ask lots of questions as I like to learn.
