I have worked hands on and progressed to managing staff. Its my time to go back in time to where I started supporting people face to face and enjoying their achievements as we work together. I am a happy person and very patient. I don't rush around as I believe being patient gives us time to work things out. I love gardening.watching a movie or going to a show. walking. cooking, spending time with people and driving. I speak spanish and all my qualifications are in place. I have been working in disability services for 25 years Prior to that I am a registered nurse who covered shifts in the disability as a casual employee and became an advocate for disability participants to have options in their life choices. I have vast experience in the sector and have just departed from a managerial position to come closer to the participants rather than budgets and spreadsheets. I would like to see NDIS plan funds maximised to allow participants to make choices in their life which are supported so they can achieve their outcomes. To see participants enrich their lives in a person centred way and I can support them. I am a great listener who doesn't just plan activities without listening to the participant. I understand we are all individuals and that they may need communication devices and patience until we achieve a choice of activity. I'm creative and always monitor the enjoyment level of the participant and need for change if this is not achieved. I risk assess and never say no to choices until all avenues of risk are minimised or eliminated. There is nothing I like more than to finish outings with participants with a smile on their face or a relaxed vibe, I absolutely love to read and watch movies. I am organized and time driven. I like to play tennis and cook. I am spanish and am told I have a very easy going personality. I like to talk to people and find myself listening to their life story. I am empathetic and very patient. I have cared for my father in the last 7 months to the end with a terminal illness. I guess when I think about it I have always been in the caring industry. management role has allowed me to upskill in understanding fund allocation, rosters and management of staff. Review of care plans and budgets were also in my role description, I feel that it is time for me to enjoy my job again. I love the interaction between myself and people of all ages and have skills in all personal care, medication management, pad changes seizures and all other medical issues due to my nursing.
