I decided to become a support worker to help others and bring benefit to those who need it the most. I started off looking after my grandparents, aiding in their daily needs and when I found out this could turn into a career I was extremely interested. I currently work in support independently. I have had experience with disability support for approximately 3 years supporting over 5 individuals. Ive also shadowed my father and observed him since he has been in the industry over several years. Im a full time student at UTS completing my last year of computer science. I believe the skills I have developed through my degree translate well into support work as it requires critical thinking, problem solving and creativitiy. I train at the gym at least 4 times a week as it has been a staple of mine for around 3 years now. I love to play sports such as basketball and oztag and have a background in brazillian jiujitsu growing up. Being half indonesian/korean and growing up in the inner west I was exposed to different cultures and surrounded by many different ethnicities. Im very open minded when it comes to new experiences and love to meet new people. I believe that skills and credentials without passion and personality wont get you that far. Having the knowledge is only half the job. Knowing how to apply those skills, build rapport and effective communication is key to building lasting relationships and excelling at any endeavour in life.
