About me

I wanted to become a social carer because I have a deep passion for making a difference in people’s lives. I tend to lean towards this way of being in my personal life and am compelled to pursue this passion for helping others, in a way that suits each individual. I believe every person should have the support, relationships, and connection that allows them to live their life to the fullest - I know first hand how even small gestures can have a significant impact on someone’s mood and outlook. I have a wide array of skills, experience and knowledge but perhaps more importantly my ‘people’ skills are often the most valuable; being able to listen, have compassion, adapt quickly, and genuinely be a kind, caring person encourage me to follow my passion to help make the world a more inclusive place and bring happiness to someone’s day! I love reading and always have a stack of books by my bedside. I’m really interested in learning about human behaviour, the mind, and self development aswell as a good fiction thriller. I love going for days out - whether to museums, walks along the beach, visiting a cafe, theme parks, or being in beautiful spaces. I did used to be a bit of a thrill seeker in the past and have travelled solo around the world, done bungee jumps, sky dives and shark cage diving - I’m not sure I’m brave enough for all of that still 😄 but having a sense of adventure is definitely one of my top drivers. I am actually a qualified midwife! However I am not currently practicing because I chose to take a break and focus on my family which rotating shift work made difficult. I am exploring other ways I can pursue my passion to support people, so whilst this is a niche set of skills, my training and practice developed my skills in communication, problem-solving and ability to work under pressure. My experience in providing support and care to families and individuals during vulnerable times are highly applicable in a Social Care role. My compassion and empathy not only help guide my interactions with families as a midwife but will enable me to connect and support individuals in a meaningful way as a Social Carer. I’m excited about the opportunity to learn and grow while still making a difference in peoples lives. I am also a Mum to a 7 and 2 year old, which has enriched my understanding of care and patience. As with all people, each has unique needs and emotions, and being a parent has given me insight into the importance of individualised care and support that is adaptable and compassionate. I’m originally from the UK, I have lived in New Zealand whilst travelling, before returning to the UK, and have now lived in Australia for nearly 8 years.
