I would like to work as a Social Carer because I am passionate about helping others and see social support as a vital part of creating healthier communities. Having lived experience with mental health challenges, I know how valuable it is to feel heard, respected, and supported. This drives me to be there for others in the same way. I have completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, which equipped me with skills to recognise signs of distress and provide initial assistance. I am also studying a Bachelor of Nursing at RMIT, where I am developing strong knowledge in person-centred care, communication, and ethical practice. These experiences have deepened my commitment to working in Social Care and inspired me to pursue a career where I can make a positive difference. To me, being a social support worker means more than offering assistance during difficult times. It is about treating every person with dignity, creating safe spaces, and empowering individuals to feel valued and capable of recovery. This role aligns with both my values and my future nursing aspirations, and I would consider it a privilege to contribute meaningfully to the lives of others. Alongside my education and volunteering, I bring personal attributes that I believe are essential in this role: compassion, patience, resilience, and cultural awareness. I love helping people and being of use, and I love seeing people smile and making their day a little bit better. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Nursing at RMIT, which is providing me with knowledge in health, communication, and patient-centred care. I bring a combination of lived experience, formal education, and practical involvement in healthcare that has prepared me for the role of Social Carer. I have also: completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training, giving me the skills to respond calmly and appropriately to people experiencing mental health challenges; and volunteer with Monash Health, where I have gained exposure to working with diverse groups and developed the ability to adapt to different needs. This role has strengthened my interpersonal skills, taught me the importance of empathy and boundaries, and allowed me to work effectively as part of a team.
