Hi, my name is Jade, Ever since I was younger, people around would say I like conversing with all kinds of people. I am a curious one myself so I find it interesting when converse people with different ages, different cultures, different gender and different nationality. It’s fun to gain more knowledge and wisdom from other people. Before I came here in Sydney almost 3 years ago, my friends and new friends would tell me that I am one of the few person they trust because I always listen to them and understand them. When I arrived here in Sydney, it wasn’t hard for me to adjust with other people especially when I first did my workplacements in a community centre because I like to get to know other people and treats them with respect and equality. Given the fact that I love learning new things from people that are more experienced than I am, I am having fun while learning. I now have a diploma in mental health. I believe being a Social Carer means I know how to understand, respect and treat people equally. I’m aware that in applying to this job means I will be exposed to different kinds of people with mental illness, people with disability, caring for the elderly, other cultures and traditions. Sharing one of my skills or one of my hobbies to someone in the community depends on how much I know of them. I’d say I would converse (social skills) with them first and find out what they are interested in, conversing with them can also help in getting to know more of their lives and how they wanna be accompanied or cared for.
