Hi, my name is Helen. Becoming a Social Carer is a goal for me. I am passionate about forming genuine relationships with people and building positive friendships. I hope to be a guide to those who find it hard to navigate their community and have fun at the same time. I enjoy cooking and baking, the outdoors and walking, l love the water and aqua aerobics. I love pets and was a mum to a poodle for a very long time. I can help prepare meals, run errands, assist with shopping and go on outings. I have a car to assist with driving individuals to wherever they need to go. I was trained as a Social Worker and especially worked in Child Protection for many years until l had my own family. I am naturally an empathetic and caring person, patient and a good communicator, l am reliable and would like to help people to live independently and encourage people to make the most out of life. I know my Social Work training and background will play an important part in the way l engage and form meaningful relationships. It’s a skill that never leaves you. I currently look after my elderly parents who face many health and social issues so l would like to extend my skills to support others in need. I was born in Australia and have a Greek background and l speak Greek. I hope this will help some people who find it challenging communicating in English. I enjoy aqua aerobics 3 times a week and have made longterm friendships with like minded aqua ladies. I enjoy the summer more than the winter because l love the beach and sea. I do hot yoga to stay fit as well. Its calming for the body and mind. I'm passionate about stepping into the role as Social Carer and begin making a change.
