About me

I've always been drawn to helping others from a young age and my experience working with people with disabilities aged care and mental health as a support worker has enhanced my life. I have been a support worker for many years supporting my varied clients with daily tasks, advocating for their needs, and empowering them to live independently. This experience taught me the importance of patience, empathy, and understanding in building trust and fostering growth. As a support worker, I've seen firsthand the impact that dedicated care and support can have on someone's life. I've witnessed individuals overcome challenges, achieve their goals, and thrive with the right support. This experience has given me the skills and confidence to continue my career in social care. I believe I am good at this role because I possess the necessary skills, including: - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work with diverse populations and tailor support to individual needs - Patience, empathy, and understanding - Experience with personal care, meal preparation, social companionship and medication management - Ability to work independently and as part of a team Moreover, I genuinely enjoy this work. I enjoy seeing my clients achieve their goals and enjoy learning and experiencing new things in their life. I'm excited to bring my skills and passion to this role and make a positive difference in the lives of others. Gardening, dog training, crystal art, music, movies, travel and enjoying life I have always worked in the medical field and was a podiatrist for 10 years. I have also worked in an older adult mental health hospital.
