About me

All of us need help in life - no-one is an island! People who need to access disability services are people who need help just like everyone else - they aren't projects to work on or problems to be fixed. I see it as a responsibility to help others out wherever help is needed. I believe that everyone is an expert in their own life, and is the best person to understand their own needs and wants. So the best way to offer support is to listen and work with people and their carers and families to let them direct their care in a way that best aligns with their individual needs. I think that facilitating peoples' independence and personal agency can be one of the most important ways of supporting them. I know that my days are happier, fuller, and more satisfying when I have meaningful connections with other people. I think there is something you can learn from everyone and I love getting to know new people from different backgrounds and walks of life. I want to be able to offer a human relationship that is full of respect, patience, openness, and warmth because I know the difference that can make in everyone's lives. I love to share a yarn and a laugh. I like to keep fit and active. My favourite hobby is snowboarding, but for most of the time when I can't be on the slopes, I keep fit by lifting weights and riding my bike. I like to kick the footy around and make some poor attempts at kicking conversions as well! I love video games, but I also enjoy all other kinds of games and puzzles. I like to have a go at any kind of arts and crafts as well and I reckon I've got a decent eye for it. Recently I've done some cross-stitch and some wood carving which has been good fun. I enjoy cooking and fancy myself a bit of a dab hand in the kitchen. I like trying out new recipes and leveling up my cooking game. And of course, I love music and dancing. You can always get me on the floor for a boogie! I have a background in linguistics and a good knowledge and understanding of language. I'm currently studying to be a primary school teacher.
