Hi, my name is Cris, I have been a disability support worker for 10 years now and have worked with persons with all kinds of physical, intellectual and psychological conditions. Recently I have trained in manual handling, medication administration and many other specialist high intensity disability activities and have worked with a number of organisations including Cerebral Palsy Alliance. I hold a number of certifications in disability and aged care assistance and am always keen on improving my abilities, qualifications and expertise in this field, which I find most rewarding. Before being a support worker, I have been a lecturer, a researcher and a tutor at university and have also worked as anthropologist and historian with indigenous people in NSW, in the NT and in WA. In 2020 I graduated as a library technician at TAFE NSW and have worked in libraries in the last 10 years (public, special collections and school libraries). I also have a PhD in Music from Macquarie University and am a musician. I have come to be a disability support worker for my love of conversations with and support for people. I have a brother with a serious disability and nothing has stopped him to achieve his highest goals in life. This has encouraged me to try and help as many people as I can to reach their maximum potential. I share my passions with my clients and give them 100% attention and often form strong bonds - while always maintaining a professional attitude of service. I am an solar and communicative person, gentle, sensitive and I love a good laugh. I am patient, I know how to listen and am profoundly empathic. I have a variety of interest, the top of which are: bushwalking, exploration of Australian history and cultural places, music listening and music playing, current affairs and events, vintage audio (incl. record players and vinyls), secondhand bookshop exploration and reading, alternative and holistic health.
