I enjoy working with people of all ages. I was born in South Africa and have lived in Switzerland and Canada as well as having traveled extensively to other parts of the world making me very open minded, a good listener and comfortable with people from all walks of life. I have a lot of patience with people and have worked as a teacher/Instructor in many various rolls and am generally good with people all round and of all ages. I love to talk, cook and clean. (My wife and I used to have a cleaning contract) I enjoy walking and fresh air. I worked as a volunteer driver for some time for ABLE Australia, (used to be a division for Volunteering Gold Coast) and we would pick up a small bus load of elderly people from their place of residence, take them for morning tea and then on to lunch, afterwards dropping them off back home. I did this two days a week and on a third day would do a Hospital and Doctor appointment run. I thoroughly enjoyed doing this, it pleased me to see others gaining from their outing. I stopped when Able shut down their Gold Coast office with the exception of one vehicle and a couple of office staff. There is also the possibility of doing some light maintenance for them like mowing small lawns, changing light bulbs etc. I know sometimes people just need an "ear" and a chat and I'm a good listener. I have worked with people with a Disability but not extensively. In Adelaide we started a program where we would bring people in that were in wheelchairs and push them around on the ice. It was so rewarding to see their excitement and to hear their comments of "when our group does field sport, we have to sit on the side and watch, but here we are on the ice with them"
