It has been in the family all my life, my mum has been working for years with people with visual and hearing disabilities. In my personal experience I helped my grandma during her last 10 years, as she was in a wheelchair, I was always taking her out for any recreational activity to keep her happy.
My main motivation to become a support worker is my son, he was born too early (28 weeks) and required a lot of personal care due to his oxygen requirements at the hospital and at home. To see the little active boy he has become it made me realise I wanted a change in my life, I stopped working at my previous job to become a support worker (I'm also an IT Professional).
