Hi ! My name is Jo and I am a dedicated Aged and Mental Health Support Worker with a proven track record of providing genuine care and support for our wise, precious elderly generation and those suffering with a mental illness. I have been caring for my elderly Mum full-time, along with a lovely 90-year-old gentleman. I also care for a lady who suffers with a complex mental health condition, along with caring for her elderly mum. After different careers from a Tour Guide to a Property Valuer, none has given me as much happiness and fulfillment as being a support carer and making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Knowing that someone is looking forward to my next visit, fills me with joy. I have a giant heart with lots of kindness, care, support and understanding to give. I have a strong desire to make people feel special, reassured, safe and to make them laugh and smile. I am a good communicator and can provide my client with advocacy and assistance with personal finances; bills, budgeting, appointments, dealing with Govt departments. I have experience with medications and complex health needs. I treasure personal freedom and independence, and I gently encourage this in my clients. My passions include driving - have my own clean vehicle, fully insured, a clean driving record and no accidents. I love animals, especially my adorable 16 yo feline grand dame “Mumma”. In my spare time I enjoy transcribing for psychiatrists and endocrinologists (Diabetes), transferring audio recorded meetings into written reports. I also enjoy a shopping trip or two - I'm known to grab a bargain online or on Marketplace. I have formal training in Mental Health, Family Support and Therapy, Trauma Informed Care and a Business Degree, I have my own personal experience of mental health and life as an elderly carer and palliative carer.
