About
I want to be a social carer because I’m passionate about helping people live with dignity, independence, and purpose. I find great meaning in supporting others, especially those who may be vulnerable or face barriers, and helping them achieve their goals, whether that’s gaining confidence, building life skills, or simply enjoying daily life. I believe I’d be good at it because I genuinely care, I listen well, and I’m patient and adaptable. I have experience supporting people with intellectual and physical disabilities in both structured programs and everyday community settings. I’m a strong communicator who knows how to adjust my approach to suit the individual, and I build trust easily. I also understand the importance of routine, respect, and choice in people’s lives, and I’m committed to providing quality, person-centred support that makes a positive difference. Passions: Helping others learn and grow—especially people with disabilities or learning difficulties Promoting inclusion and building confidence in others Supporting people to achieve their goals and live more independently Creating learning environments that are fun, hands-on, and meaningful Advocating for people’s rights, especially in disability support contexts Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse groups Adapting learning and communication styles to suit individual needs Designing and delivering training (including IT systems and soft skills) Facilitating goal-based learning for adults and youth with additional needs Patience, empathy, and a person-centred approach to support Working collaboratively in teams (e.g., sailing crews, education settings) Hobbies: Sailing: I sail competitively around Australia and also teach others Volunteering: With Sailability, the Office of the Public Advocate, SES, etc. Learning: Ongoing study in counselling and vocational education Supporting others: I enjoy empowering people to understand safety, roles, and teamwork Outdoor activities and community involvement I am a keen cook and enjoy making food from different parts of the world.
