About

In all the jobs I have had, I have helped others. When I was a teacher, I learned the skill of bringing out the best in people, including those with learning difficulties. Sometimes, some simple words of kindness and encouragement was enough to motivate them to try new things. I could use this skill as a carer. After teaching, I was a public servant for many years and in this position I was a leader of teams of diverse people. My role was to mentor others and guide and support them to achieve their goals. I have lived in many different locations in Australia and have travelled extensively, so I have a lot to talk about with others. My mother suffered from chronic arthritis and had bouts of depression during her life and I was her 'go to person' to chat and to help her with the difficult times. My father has hearing loss and he finds it frustrating, as do those around him, so I have learnt how to show compassion and patience when I'm interacting with him. I've entered a new phase of my life, having resigned from a career in the public service to move to Bundaberg, and have met some kind and caring people who have been willing to spend time with me in this new town. I know that I have a lot to share with others and time to offer to make life easier for those who need a caring helping hand. I am skilled at using the internet and social networking to find things to do and places to go. I like to 'brunch' and for those that enjoy getting out and about, I could take them to some events that I go to. I like to walk and would enjoy taking clients to different locations.
