I wanted to become a Social Carer because I love to help people do the things the want to do and experience life the way they want to live it. Ive always cared for people throughout my life, most of my family are nurses and carers and they told me I'd make a great nurse/carer. My mum lost 1/3 of a lung to cancer, I quit work to stay home to look after her, it was challenging at times, doing anything that made her breathe to deep was hard to do, so shopping, doing the washing, walking up stairs, showering, household chores that involved alot of walking was very difficult, but with my help and encouragement we managed the daily chores. Since then I knew thats what I wanted to do, care for people and assist with their needs, from everyday things to things they have always wanted to do. Some of my hobbies include baking, cooking cakes/desserts is a passion of mine. I started cooking with my grandmother at age 2, have loved it ever since. I love being outside exploring, bush walks, mountain climbing, swimming, hiking, walks along the beach, playing sports enjoing the fresh air. I love listening to music and going to concerts. I love to dance also, dancing is a great form of fitness, gets the whole body moving and its fun to do. I like to go shopping, go to the movies, eating out ot cafe's and taking pets for a walk. I like playing boardgames, arts and crafts and helping with domestic chores. I love chatting and getting to know my clients, it helps to know their interests so we can plan activities to do inside and outside. I am fun, outgoing and love to have a laugh. I am Aboriginal and love my culture, I love getting to know my clients and their different cultures and backgrounds. I love listening to stories about everything, it makes me happy to see my clients face light up when telling me life stories.
