Since a young age I've always valued equality. At age 10, I lost my uncle to brain cancer and my father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. I graduated from school 4 years ago, and up until then had only worked smaller hospitality and retail jobs. I started my first full time job the year after high school but due to the pandemic I was laid off. This actually helped me realise that I wasn't happy working the same old 9-5, and wanted a job where I could help and connect with people. I believe I make a great social carer as I get to share this life with other people and create new valuable relationships. My favourite thing to do is travel and meet people, I'm quite the social butterfly with a vibrant, bubbly personality. My Hobbies and Passions 1. I actually own my own small arts based business (it's a small side hustle of mine, creating custom artworks for clients). I was also lucky enough to be accepted into a specialised arts program in the past, and hosted my own arts parties. I would be able to help someone in the community, like hosting a guided painting session or experimenting with acrylic pouring. I work with acrylic, watercolour, charcoal/graphite and mixed media, so there's a long list of activities to choose from! 2. I love baking! I must say I make the best choc chip cookies you've ever tasted! I've been baking since I was a young child, and I have taught myself a lot about the technical sciences behind it as well. If I ever had a person under my care that wanted to get busy in the kitchen, I'd be over the moon to work with them. I am also well versed in cross contamination and working with allergies. I have a couple friends who are either lactose intolerant, gluten free, have an allergy, or a lifestyle choice such as being vegan. Furthermore, working in hospitality for many years has taught me to value food safety. 3. My last top 3rd skill is hiking. While in high school I actually participated in the Brisbane 30km Kokoda challenge twice (an endurance challenge designed to honour our soldiers and the Kokoda Trail back in 1942). I'm a physically fit individual, I tend to go on a 3 hour hike at least once a week. I also have a list of my favourite hiking trails in Brisbane and the GC, so if a person from the community approached me and wanted to go for a trip through nature, I'd be more than up for it!
