About

I was brought up in a world of care and support with mum working in social work and aged care. I spent my afternoons assisting with low-care clients and joining in on activities. I also have personal experience of full-time in-home care for my late partner while he battled Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. This led me to realise I had a passion for, and the skills suited to, social care and support work. My career has also led me to roles in support, where I picked up a lot of skills suitable for social care. For instance, my time in the QLD Tafe Library meant assisting students with life admin, applications, creating resumes, applying for jobs, completing assignments, unjamming the printer, general chats for language expansion, and simply a listening ear when the weight of the world was too much. Recognising triggers, boundaries, & coping strategies, supporting others through difficult times without judgement, finding practical solutions, and connecting deeply with others. Active listening, communication, advocacy, self-care & boundary setting, crisis response & de-escalation, and collaboration. My hobbies are quite unique and make for an excellent conversation starter - I own a mining claim in the Gemfields and spend time digging in the dirt for sapphires. I am also in the process of learning to facet the sapphires to shape and sell them. Highly empathic, which people sometimes see as a negative personality trait, but I believe in a tough world, we need more softness. I thrive in environments of assisting others and constantly try to bring a smile to others. I've battled my own world of mental health, family members needing care, and friends requiring a little extra support, plus I am generally the go-to when someone needs a shoulder to lean on.
