While at uni I held many jobs, I was a painter, a domestic house cleaner, and a bar-tender among other things. Once I graduated and worked for a few years as a graphic designer I noticed 2 things I needed in my career that I wasn't getting but had enjoyed in my previous roles. 1. I cannot be sedentary, I like to move around, be kept on my feet or keep my mind active. 2. Job satisfaction for me involves helping people, it's my purpose. As I explored the idea over the last year to become a social carer, and commencing my Cert III in Individual Support, I have started to open the conversation with friends and family, and the general consensus is that although it's extremely challenging, I would be very good at it and in turn find it extremely rewarding. To start the year 2025 off with not just a career change but a big move, I have recently left Sydney for the sunnier Gold Coast. I enjoy the pace of life here, there is so much opportunity to get out into the community which I love! Yoga, pilates, walking, hiking, the beach, coffee dates, meditation, breathwork, book clubs and women's circles are all becoming part of my daily life here. I'm excited to start a garden and grow my own fruits and veggies, whilst simultaneously getting creative with some delicious new recipes in the kitchen. I enjoy self-development and almost every activity! I'm trying to get into reading, I enjoy books like "The Body Keeps The Score" and "Sapiens". I have seen a lot of mental health and some disability with family members and friends. I have always been curious to learn more. For me, seeing the direct impact is something I find will carry me through tough situations because I understand it can be emotionally and physically tough but my resilience and problem solving is something I can confidently say will help me to back myself to give the best possible care to my clients.
