About

I wanted to become a Social Carer because I’ve grown up in a community where supporting others is a natural part of everyday life. My mum has cared for a man with cerebral palsy for almost 10 years, so from a young age I’ve been involved in disability support and have seen the impact that genuine connection can make. I also have experience working in medical administration, where I supported people from all backgrounds and learned how to communicate with empathy, patience and professionalism. Most woman in my family are nurses so I grew up surrounded by people who genuinely enjoy helping others. I believe I’ll be good at this role because I’m compassionate, dependable, and genuinely enjoy building trust and helping people feel comfortable and supported. Some of my hobbies include being outdoors, especially fishing and exploring new places along the coast. I enjoy activities that help me slow down, reset and connect with nature. In terms of skills, I’m patient, empathetic and a good listener. I’m comfortable adapting to different personalities and needs, and my medical administration experience has helped me stay organised, reliable and confident when supporting diverse clients. An interesting fact about me is that I grew up in a remote Indigenous community 9 hours south of Darwin, which shaped my values around connection, respect and community support. Combined with coming from a strong line of nurses, this background has made caring for others feel like a natural and meaningful path for me.
