Becoming a social carer can be a deeply rewarding career choice such as making a positive impact on vulnerable individuals by improving someone’s quality of life and help lead a fulfilling life. The personal rewards of seeing someone grow and become more independent and feel supported through difficult times can bring immense satisfaction. Knowing that I can make a difference can create a sense of purpose and can help me grow and enhance my empathy and develop a deep understanding of others. I am very drawn to helping others and excited to develop new skills. As a nursing student aiming to transition into social work I have learnt the importance of promoting equality, fairness, educating and empowering people to make informed decisions about their lives, driven to help resolve conflicts, tools to navigate challenges, the ability to understand and relate to people’s feelings and experiences to build trust and offer meaningful support, I have learnt the exposure to diverse populations which helps build an understanding of different cultures and backgrounds where a sensitive inclusive approach to care and advocacy is vital. I participate in numerous sports such as soccer and tennis which is a quality that would help engage clients to improve there physical, mental and social health.
