About
It has been in the family all my life, my mum has been working for years with people with visual and hearing disabilities. In my personal experience I helped my grandma during her last 10 years, as she was in a wheelchair, I was always taking her out for any recreational activity to keep her happy. My main motivation to become a support worker is my son, he was born too early (28 weeks) and required a lot of personal care due to his oxygen requirements at the hospital and at home. To see the little active boy he has become it made me realise I wanted a change in my life, I stopped working at my previous job to become a support worker (I'm also an IT Professional). Passions: Helping others solve problems, continuous learning and self-improvement, supporting others to help them have a better life, mentoring or teaching others, mental health and well-being, exploring new places, roadtrips, travelling, photography, fitness and staying active, technology and innovation, family and parenting. Skills: Empathy and compassion, active listening, patience in challenging or repetitive situations, communication skills to speak clearly and kindly to others, observation skills, time management, personal care assistance (to help others with hygiene, dressing, etc.), teamworker, record keeping and documentation, problem solver, emotional resilience, cultural sensitivity, First Aid and CPR, encouragement and motivation to support others independence and self-esteem, attention to detail, IT related skills to help others, fast learner. Hobbies: Playing with my son and spend good time with family, videogames when I have the time off, watching movies or TV Shows, enjoy new food, traveling and exploring new places, photography, music, DIY projects at home, relaxing in nature when going out. About my background, I'm from Venezuela (South America), we are happy people and hard workers, so I'll do my best to make sure you are supported. I'm more than happy to show anyone about my country's food, teach Spanish, etc.
