About
As an individual with extensive caring experience with individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities , I have the confidence , enthusiasm and resilience to be an effective social carer . I am comfortable in challenging circumstances , and thrive in environments where care and fun are the main priority . With family members who experience and live with a disability , I have been brought up to respect and care for those in the disability community . My experience has given me social skills which mean I’m a great communicator , motivator and friend to the individual I’m caring for . I’ve created unique bonds with the people I’ve cared for previously , and strive to attain this level of connection with the new individuals I care for . I am a confident communicator so sharing a skills such as dancing or cooking with someone in the community is an easy task. Previously I was a carer for a 13 year old autistic girl. I taught her to bake between other activities and through sensory play and motivation , she became heavily interested in this hobby . Although non verbal , our interaction was made meaningful through song , laughing and words of encouragement .
