About
Hello, My name is Kristen. I have been a carer my whole life helping care for my older brother who was born with Cerebral Palsy. He is now 64 and I have been his best friend from the moment I could walk and talk. I am compassionate, friendly, able to get on with just about anyone at any age and really enjoy meeting people and helping them in any way I can. I am trustworthy and honest and believe that everyone should be treated equally, no matter what their ability or age. I am passionate about spending time with my family and friends and in my spare time, helping others. I enjoy walking our dog Buddy who is a very friendly Groodle. I love to travel and have backpacked around the world twice with my best friend, visiting 35 countries ( a long time ago now ) I love going to the beach in summer and ( gentle ) bush walks in winter. I became an enrolled nurse when I left school and worked in a palliative care hospital looking after mostly patients on the dementia and terminal cancer wards. I also did nursing when I travelled and worked as a live in nurse / nanny for a little girl with Spina Bifida as well as a lovely 90 year old woman with dementia. I have also worked with children, women and men with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities when I worked for Sunnyfield in Sydney. I have had quite a lot of experience across many different areas and confident I can provide quality support and good company for yourself or your loved one. I really enjoy support work which is why I would like to start doing it again.
