About
Honestly, it came from my family. I've been caring for my grandmother in her later years, and watching her go through that—needing support but still wanting to be treated with dignity—it really opened my eyes to how important it is to actually listen to people and see them as individuals, not just their condition. More recently, I've been supporting my uncle through cancer treatments, which has been challenging but also really rewarding. You learn a lot about patience and just being present for someone when they're going through something difficult. And I'm currently helping my aunty after her stroke, which has taught me that recovery isn't just physical—it's about emotional support too. What I've realized through all of this is that I'm genuinely good with people in vulnerable situations. I don't just go through the motions—I actually care about their wellbeing and independence. I listen to what they need rather than assuming. My family has told me I have a natural way of making them feel understood and supported without being patronizing about it. I think what will make me good at this work is that I've already done it, in a way. I know what it takes—the patience, the empathy, showing up consistently. But more than that, I actually want to do it. For me, it's not just a job; it's about making a real difference in someone's life. Outside of work, I'm quite an active person—I do Reformer pilates and love walking, which keeps me grounded and energized. I'm also passionate about food and cooking, and I genuinely enjoy eating out and spending time with friends and family, having a laugh together. I love animals and kids too. I think these things actually make me better at what I do. Being active and healthy helps me have the stamina and patience that caring requires. But more importantly, I understand the value of the things that make life enjoyable—good food, movement, connection, laughter. When I'm supporting someone, I want to help them maintain those things too, not just the basics. Whether that's encouraging someone to stay active, cooking a meal they actually enjoy, or just having a genuine laugh with them. And loving animals and kids means I'm naturally patient and nurturing. I genuinely enjoy being around people and making them feel cared for, not because I feel obligated, but because I actually want them to have a good quality of life.
