About
I've recently made a career change because I want to work directly with people and make a real difference in their daily lives. After caring for my mum during her final years, I learned how much it means to have someone who genuinely cares and takes the time to understand what you need. That experience changed my perspective on what meaningful work looks like for me. I believe everyone deserves support that respects their independence and choices and I'm excited to be someone who can offer practical help while also being a friendly, reliable presence in people's lives. I'm patient and organised, which I think makes a good combination for support work. From my time helping students at university, I learned that everyone has their own pace and way of doing things, and my job is to adapt to what works best for you. I'm a good listener and I don't make assumptions about what people need - I prefer to ask and learn. I'm reliable and punctual (maybe a bit too organized sometimes!), and I believe in doing things properly the first time. Most importantly, I treat everyone with respect and see the person, not just their disability. In my personal life, I love cooking and am passionate about good, wholesome food - happy to help with meal prep or cooking together if that's something you enjoy! I'm interested in nutrition and healthy living, but I'm not preachy about it. I'm pretty good with technology and organising things, so if you need help with phones, computers, or sorting out paperwork, I'm your person. I enjoy learning new things and figuring out solutions to everyday challenges. I'm a calm, steady person who enjoys both good conversations and comfortable silences. I believe in having a laugh when we can and being supportive when things are tough. I'm making this career change because I genuinely want to do work that matters on a personal level. I might be new to formal support work, but I bring life experience, genuine care, and a commitment to learning what works best for each person I support. I see this as us working together, not me doing things 'for' you or 'to' you. Looking forward to meeting you!
