About
I wanted to become a social carer because I've always been a good listener and an empathetic person with the right skills for the role. I also feel it could be a good fit for my life, which I like to keep varied in terms of work and various pursuits as a creatively minded and active person. I love filmmaking, photography, art, walking, writing, gardening, swimming, and playing with animals. I'm originally from the Blue Mountains and am half Canadian. I love nature, I've travelled widely around different parts of the world, and I absolutely love cats! Though I don't yet have a formal qualification in care work, I have been a personal carer for my mother during her years with ovarian cancer and an episode of acute psychosis. I did everything from personal care tasks, cooking, taking her to health appointments, monitoring her medication, going for short walks, providing emotional support and doing activities with her.
