About

I come from a family of nurses & teachers so I get a great sense of joy when helping other people. From them I have learnt patience, compassion and people skills. I currently work from home by myself during the week so I’m hoping that by joining Like Family I can connect with others. I have experience caring for my beautiful Nanna who had dementia. I cared for her on and off for about two years, helping with things like cooking, taking her to appointments, helping dress her and with showering etc. We also had lots of fun together! I have participated in the Red Cross Community Visitors Scheme, where I visited a resident at an aged care home who had vision and hearing impairment. We mostly sat with a cuppa and had a good chat or looked through old photo albums. In my spare time I love reading, bushwalking, yoga, going to the beach, catching up with friends for coffee and traveling when I can. I like learning new things and I’ve taken sewing classes, painting classes, Spanish and surfing lessons in the last few years. Can’t say I have perfected any but I had a lot of fun!
