About

I wanted to become a social carer because I've had a great experience working in organisations that support older persons, people with disability and also young persons. I would love to make a positive difference for someone and think that I have lots to offer! I love meeting new people and learning about the things that interest them and bring them joy. I also have a background as a researcher (so I'm always curious and keen to learn), as a manager (so I can be reasonably organised and focused on getting things done well), and as a tech startup founder (so am open to trying new things and using tech in creative ways). I love being out in the community, going to cafes or local parks. I love music that I can dance or sing to - even though I'm not a great dancer and am definitely not a good singer! I've also got a very active dog so am always happy to hang out in dog friendly spaces. My mother has been living with dementia for over 10 years and I've also conduced research with persons with dementia and their family carers. I also worked for a disability services organisation and helped to design new programs to help new programs to help people with disability have a greater say in the services they receive. So I'm a big supporter of helping people do the best they can, no matter the circumstances.
