About

I was motivated to become a Social Carer because of my lived experience supporting my younger brother, who has special needs, and my aunt, who lives with mental health challenges. These personal experiences have given me a deep understanding of the importance of compassion, kindness and patience. As a father to two young children, I want to set an example for them by demonstrating the values of kindness, honesty, and respect for everyone — especially for those who need extra support. I have a strong sense of empathy for people who require extra support to live fulfilling lives and be included as valued members of the broader community. I love spending time with my wife and children, whether we’re at home or involved in their academic, sporting, or musical activities. Supporting them brings me a lot of joy. I’m passionate about staying active through sports like cycling, surfing, running, skiing, horse riding, weights and yoga — even if I don’t get to do them as often as I’d like! I’ve also started re-learning the violin and piano, which I enjoyed playing when I was younger. In my quiet moments, I’m an avid reader of non-fiction books that explore the history of humanity, ideas about the future, and topics related to emotional health and mental wellbeing. I find learning about these subjects both fascinating and important for understanding ourselves and others. I’m someone who loves getting to know people and making them feel safe and comfortable. I’m patient, reliable, and always try to stay calm, even when things get tricky. I really believe everyone deserves kindness and to feel included, no matter their abilities. Helping my brother with special needs and raising my kids has taught me how important it is to be present, to listen, be flexible, and celebrate what makes each person unique. I’m committed to creating a fun, warm, positive environment where the person I support — and their family — can feel supported and understood.
