I pride myself in the positive connections that I create with people on a personal and professional level, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and growth with others in a vulnerable, kind and respectful manner. I have many interests and hobbies that I enjoy sharing with peers, which along with my caring nature, hands-on approach and strong work ethic, uniquely positions me for this role. I have dedicated my career to supporting other people, and I have a diverse professional background based in the health and wellness, personal services and customer service industries. My experience as a massage therapist and in personal services demonstrates my empathy and understanding of individual needs; I excel at building rapport with patients and making them feel valued and supported while providing care. My experience as a swimming instructor, nanny and family helper highlights my ability to engage and build trusting relationships with many individuals and families with varying needs and abilities; I strive to facilitate a safe and comfortable environment for the individuals that I interact with. Additionally, my small business management experience has provided me with a wide variety of organizational skills including effective communication, time and project management and strong problem solving abilities. I love to travel to new and far off places, experiencing different cultures, foods and people. I enjoy the outdoors and spending time hiking, camping, swimming and biking. I have completed two house flips, and I love assisting friends and family with DIY projects. I am a very creative person and usually have a craft project in the works at any given time. Recent endeavors include ceramics, drawing, graphics and card making. I also try to explore new parks and walks as often as I can with my dog, Che. My most recent work experience was owning and managing two small businesses simultaneously, one as a traveling sports massage therapist, and one as a property manager for a holiday home that a friend and I personally renovated together. I have recently returned to my hometown of Freshwater after having lived in Philadelphia, USA for 14 years; my primary reason for my return is to spend more time with my parents as they age. My time living and traveling abroad has exposed me to many different cultures, backgrounds and practices, broadening my worldly view and further shaping my unique outlook on life and respect for other people. I am empathetic and kind by nature, which along with my passion for helping others, will enhance my success as a support worker with Like Family. NOTE: I have two references from the USA and am unable to use their phone number on this platform. I have used my own number for Angela and my mums number for Aaron - they will need to be contacted by email!
