I understand that social work requires a unique blend of skills, traits, and behaviours, which I believe I possess. Qualities, such as resilience, patience, cultural awareness and sensitivity, and ethical awareness- are essential for effective practice and can significantly impact the outcomes of the individuals, families, and communities that social workers serve. I hope to demonstrate such qualities in the opportunities offered by your Like Family. Activity Options: 1. SPORTS / ATHLETICS: With over a decade of sporting experience and training as well as all necessary set-up and safety equipment required to teach, skill-develop or, master a range of sporting or athletic events (with multiples for group activities including) but limited to Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Netball, Cricket, Baseball, Tennis, Hockey, Golf, Darts and Athletic Events. WOODWORKING / TOOL PROFICIENCY / LANDSCAPING: My grandfather instilled in me from a young age, the love of working with tools, namely woodworking, empowering one to design and craft classic or new items. This passion was further fostered by nearly a decade of professional construction and landscaping experience and years at University studying Construction Management where I have accumulated a variety of technical, physical, and computer-animated design (CAD) skills and tools which we could use together to nurture your creativity. Possible activities include skill learning/ development, creation development from CAD to existence in a variety of materials, model making and minor home improvements/ addend to defects. All required training, hand tools, machines, PPE, setup and cleanup equipment will be provided including eye protection, ear protection, gloves etc. 5. COOKING: My love for food and cooking was inspired by my mother and Nonna from a young age and strong Italian heritage. This passion for food preparation and cooking was honed by nearly a decade of restaurant experience (both front and back of house) including several years as restaurant manager. This spurred me to learn the basics of traditional Italian cooking classics and staples such as fresh pizza making, fresh gnocchi, pasta (dry), Pesto, Napolitana, Bolognese, Carbonara, Marinara, Cotolette (Italian schnitzel), Frittelle (Italian fritters) and many others. I would love to share my Nonna and chef mentoring and experience with you and explore any culinary interests you may have- including preparing and tending herb gardens for example. 6. RECREATIONAL GAMES / HOBBIES /TRIVIA: Finding new games and hobby interests and pastimes is always fun as well as mastering existing ones. Board games, Lego, puzzles can also be enjoyed in outdoor environments for a truly relaxing recreational time or of course enjoyed indoors, as can a variety of gaming consoles like Nintendo Switch/ DS, PlayStation etc. We could research and find Trivia nights to cater to your preference and interests and socialise with like-minded people and potentially join the stimulating environment of social clubs or organisations [Libraries, book clubs, Community-based activities or theatre, sports clubs , gardening groups etc]. 7. OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: Outdoor recreational activities are the best for taking advantage of the natural environment and fostering a sense of adventure and exploration, Activities such as drone flying, fishing, controlled campfires, nature photography, hiking, dog parks, camping and water activities could be options. As mentioned , sporting, fitness art and other games can all be transported to a desirable outdoor location. 8. VOLUNTEERING: Volunteering or enrolling for courses you may wish to undertake that you believe will be intrinsically rewarding and helpful to yourself or allow you to connect and contribute to your community can be also supported. Personally, I have participated in fund raising door-knock appeals (Salvation Army, Project Compassion) and church based community/cultural festivals and would love to help clients find a cause they have interests in supporting, such as animal shelters, hospital or community facilities. SET UP: It is confirmed that all necessary safety, setup, safety and protection wear and cleaning supplies will be supplied. I have abundance of craft supplies, timber, tools, cookery, and condiments are freely available and transportable to my clients. All reusable items (equipment, tools etc) shall be sanitised pre-session and post session use (exclusive of time spent with clients) ADDITIONAL BACKGROUND: I am a loyal, conscientious, and hard-working Bachelor graduate of Business (majoring in Human Resource Management) whom have a major career shift into an industry devoted to care and community and improvement of life quality outcomes. I have a decade of hospitality and service experience- starting from back-of-house and swiftly progressing to Restaurant Manager- as well as concurrently freelancing as in construction for multiple businesses. My experience with long, labour-intensive hours and intense interpersonal public reactions clearly transfer over to social work. I possess the acumen and interests in a range of activities which I believe will be highly transferable to social work namely but not limited to- chef-trained cooking skills, sound exercise/anatomy theology (weight training, calisthenics, yoga), many types of outside based activities, sport, animal related or water activities as well as art-related activities, music, woodworking and crafts. However, sharing my knowledge from my Italian heritage as well as my years of experience in Italian restaurants, I would gladly and humbly share all my culinary acumen. Cooking can be very scale-able with plenty of safe and fun levels for beginners.
