About

I was motivated to become a social carer because I have always had a compassionate nature and a strong desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives. After working for over 30 years in medical practice administration, I wanted to move into a role where I could provide more direct support to individuals and help them achieve their personal goals. Outside of work, I enjoy a variety of activities that reflect my caring and social nature. I love spending time at the beach, walking, and gardening, which keep me active and connected to the outdoors. I also enjoy movies, live music, and dining out, which allow me to share fun and engaging experiences with others. Board games are a favourite hobby, offering opportunities for laughter, social interaction, and skill‑building. Supporting my grandchildren has taught me patience, flexibility, and the joy of companionship, qualities I bring into my caring role. These interests not only enrich my own life but also help me create meaningful, enjoyable experiences for the participants I support. I believe I am good at this work because I bring empathy, respect, and excellent communication skills to every interaction. I build professional relationships based on trust and compassion, while supporting participants to make their own choices and engage confidently in the community. My reliability, resilience, and sense of humour help me create a supportive environment, and my background in healthcare administration has given me strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse people.
