About
Personal Statement: As a neurodivergent individual, I have navigated the complexities of neurotypical norms and am passionate about supporting my neurodivergent and other underrepresented communities. My journey has been enriched by my university studies in medical mathematics and nursing, specializing in mental health and critical care. Since 2022, I have been dedicated to advocating for underrepresented groups at Balmain Hospital, including neurodivergent individuals, mental health patients, older adults, and those with late-stage neurodegenerative disorders. I am willing to learn any skills required and personal prefererences that I do not currently know. Professional Experience: Balmain Hospital (2022 - Present): Work as a nurse. The 3 wards at Balmain focus on geriatrics (usually 85+ year-olds), neurology (any age), and rehabilitation Mental Health Nursing Specialization: Focused on the Trauma-Informed Recovery approach, emphasizing strengths and quality of life over purely biomedical (diagnosis and medication) approaches. Clinical Placements: Consistently received outstanding written and verbal feedback for my patient-focused and holistic care. Philosophy and Approach: I believe in the privilege of providing personalized, holistic care. I view challenging clients/patients/consumers as opportunities to provide calm and compassionate care, understanding that their behaviour often reflects the stress and vulnerability of their situation. As per the trauma-informed recovery approach to mental health my beliefs heavily align with - having a good life with or without symptoms. I am well accustomed to the fact that everyone develops and adjusts at their own pace and would love the opportunity to watch and be a part of fellow neurodivergent and other underrepresented/cared for populations make positive changes in their lives. Lastly, I am well aware of the social determinants of health. Personal Interests: Hobbies: Video games, learning to code, teaching my dog tricks, and exploring new cooking recipes with my partner. Additional Information: Certifications: Up-to-date with all NSW health requirements, including certificates and immunizations. Experience: Skilled in managing high acuity/risk patients with varying ratios (1:1 to 1:28). I do not mind any ratio of clients
