I would like to become a Social Carer because I’ve always had a deep empathy for people and a strong desire to make a positive impact on their lives. The idea of supporting individuals who are vulnerable or facing difficult circumstances, really resonated with me. I wanted to be in a position where I could offer help, not just in terms of practical assistance, but also providing emotional support and a sense of dignity to those who might feel lonely, isolated or overlooked, or in need of support. I think I’ll be good at it because I’m a good listener, patient, and compassionate. I genuinely care about understanding people’s needs and how best to meet them. My main quality is a good sense of humour, which will put people at ease, make their day better and help me cope with difficult personalities, moods and people. Plus, I’m adaptable and able to remain calm in stressful situations, which I foresee can be quite common. In my life I have cared for my two grandmothers and currently care for my Uncle and Aunt who are both 83. It’s the ability to make someone's day a little easier, a little brighter, that makes me want to make a success of this job. I have been in retail, service industries, I have been a church leader and really care for people, understanding when they are stressed and need support. My wife and I love entertaining, Galleries and museums, hiking and bushwalking, nature, reading, writing, calligraphy and photography. I'm 6'5" so I can be found in most crowds
