My name is Darshni Gounder and I currently reside in Victoria, Australia. I am of 28 years of age and recently moved to Australia to study Aged Care. I started at a beginners level which was Certificate III in Individual Support, completed that as of 30th June 2024 and I am now studying Diploma in community services. My career background for the past eight years was in Finance, I took a bold step back in 2023 and decided to pursue something in heath sector. I thought to start with Certificate III in Individual Support and see how I would go with it, I started developing a keen interest while studying, I started understanding how important each individual is despite their age and needs. I am now deciding to pursue further in the health sector by getting myself enrolled in Nursing. I have a high degree of empathy and compassion regarding any age and any needs required by residents/clients. I am understanding and a great listener when it comes down to being emotionally present for a client. I am currently employed as a support worker in a home care setting. I love what I do and I love the fact that I can be there for them. I strongly believe in empowering clients to maintain their independence, allowing them to make informed decisions about their lives. My client's health and safety is my number one priority when shifts are scheduled for me. I am well versed with the aged care principles and acts needed to provide the utmost support to clients during my shift. I hope I am given an opportunity to further enhance my experience and skills to perform in your facility.
