In my career I have always worked in positions that worked with the public. I worked in the state government, in hospitals and most recently, after completing my Diploma of Community Services I have worked in community organisations. My motivation for becoming a Social Carer lies in my belief that many people face barriers to inclusion in many different aspects, and that some of that can be alleviated with some care and some help. Everybody deserves to live with dignity! I honestly love people and being around people. I'm a conversationalist and a very good listener. I'm the kind of person who quietly gets things done that might help someone. I'd really love the opportunity to meet clients who would enjoy having someone warm and caring and bubbly and happy around them, to building new relationships and to hopefully provide some good company. As mentioned earlier my true passion lies in people. Building relationships, building trust, being there when somebody needs you, enjoying people's stories and respecting their viewpoints are some of the things I love about working with people. I have a diploma of community services and would be happy to undertake any other training that might be appropriate to the role. My partner and I love to go camping and hiking and that's probably my favourite hobby! I also practice yoga and meditation and enjoy a quiet walk in the afternoons. An interesting fact about me is that I played piano while I was at high school. I recently got another piano and I have been reteaching myself how to play which has been a lot of fun! In terms of skills, I have been trained in intentional peer support which really helps with communication skills when working one-on-one with people. I have my first aid certificate and I have also trained in mental health first aid.
