About
I would make a great Social Carer simply because I genuinely care about others. I am compassionate, caring and loving. I am a great listener and really love to hear about other people's life experiences. I was a stay home mom for a few years because it was important for me to raise my own children. I got involved in their school and sport activities. At school, I was on the governing board committee and a volunteer in class, assisting the teachers with the activities, computers and school outings. I was also on the governing board committee of my youngest daughters' artistic swimming club. We organised swim competitions, meetings with parents, balanced the budget for the club, hired coaches, swimsuit designers, sowers and planned fundraising events. I also was a girl guide leader and hosted meetings of different topics, prepared crafts, outdoor activities and guided the girls when it came to raising funds for the club. I also took care of my mother-in-law when the family needed help (passed away at 88) and was the main caregiver for my grandmother (96) until I moved to Australia from Canada 4 months ago. We played cards, board games, did puzzles and drawings. I also encouraged them to exercise (age appropriate), walk and eat healthy. They always loved it when I took them to the mall and to a restaurant. I also gave a hand when it came to cleaning, cooking, maintaining gardens and cutting grass. I am very meticulous, a bit of a perfectionist that really loves variety. In the last year and a half, I worked in a hospital in the Maternity Ward and the Medical Ward so I interacted with different age groups. I'm the kind of person that will offer my seat, help with heavy bags, help getting down stairs, etc. I have a big heart and would love to contribute and help out as much as I can as a Social Carer in my region. I would simply suggest new activities to them. For example, my grandmother never colored or did puzzles in her life because she always had to work and never had children of her own but by sitting and doing it with her she ended up loving it. She started with puzzles of 25-40 pieces and about a year later she wanted to try the 300 pieces puzzles. As for the coloring, she ended up coloring a whole book. She told me that she loved it and it was great to pass time. I'm willing to accompany you in any new activity your might want to try or explore any location this beautiful Australia has to offer.
