About
What motivated me to become a part-time Social Carer is my natural pull toward people and connection. I’ve always felt a strong calling to be present for others in ways that support both their independence and their sense of belonging. I find real joy in filling other people’s cups through kindness, encouragement, and companionship, and at the same time, I feel my own cup being filled from the relationships and connections we create together. I believe I will be successful at this role because I genuinely care, and I approach people with compassion, patience, and an open heart. I trust my intuition to guide me in noticing what someone needs—whether that’s support, a listening ear, or simply someone to share a moment with. For me, caring for others isn’t just about providing help; it’s about sharing humanity, uplifting spirits, and walking alongside someone so they feel valued, respected, and never alone. I have many passions and interests that bring joy to my life and naturally flow into the way I connect with others. I love being active in ways that are both gentle and energising, whether it’s gym activities, dance fitness, walking, lifting light weights, or deep-water running. These pursuits not only keep me healthy but also give me the stamina, rhythm, and positivity that I bring into my work and interactions. I also treasure opportunities to be social, whether it’s enjoying a play or theatre performance, sharing conversations with new companions, or listening to people’s life journeys with genuine interest. I find real purpose in helping connect individuals with their own passions and supporting them with daily or social tasks so they can feel confident, included, and valued. My 28 years of teaching in high schools has given me a wide and rich skill set. I have worked across mainstream classes, inclusive settings for students with disabilities, and with international students who speak their home language while learning English as an additional language (EALD). These experiences have shaped me into someone who can adapt, listen deeply, and meet people where they are, while encouraging growth, independence, and confidence. I’ve developed strong skills in communication, patience, organisation, and relationship-building, as well as a deep respect for diversity and individuality. One of the loveliest compliments I have ever received is being described as a “breath of fresh air," which I believe reflects my ability to bring positivity, warmth, and encouragement into every connection I make. “I hold a strong belief in ‘living well’ — living with patience, kindness, and intention, where health, learning, and meaningful connections are at the heart of daily life.”
